The training includes the exploration on the connected nature of risk across market, credit, operational, liquidity, reputational and other risks. In particular, it evaluates the techniques and methodologies employed in risk estimation and their strengths and weaknesses including the relationship with regulation and capital. Those state-of-the-art techniques such as value-at-risk, credit modelling, stress testing and scenarios will be examined and updated. The impact of Basel II and III on the development of risk management together with the relevant techniques in fund management will also be covered..

Moreover, with the proliferation of high net worth individuals (“HNWI”) in the Asia Pacific region, the demand for quality services by private wealth management ("PWM") have triggered the incentive to remodel the current PWM infrastructure in order to capture this sector of growing business opportunities. Meanwhile accomplishing this goal will require PWM practitioners to be competent in respect of knowledge, ethics and compliance.

In recent times, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (“HKMA”), PWM Association (“PWMA”), Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (“HKIB”), Treasury Markets Association ("TMA") and Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (“HKSI”) have collaborated in efforts to develop and incorporate the Enhanced Competency Framework (“ECF”) for PWM practitioners, which will provide those necessary skill set  to secure the performance of the quality services. For new and existing practitioners to be trained and updated according to the ECF benchmark, a training programme comprising of two modules covering various related topics and two examinations will be required for completion. Thereafter, in addtion to the relevant working experience, the practitioner will be awarded with the Certified Private Wealth professional (“CPWP”) certification accredited by the PWMA as recognition of meeting ECF standards. Depending on the practitioner’s experience within the PWM industry, it may only be necessary to satisfy one of the modules to be accredited with the CPWP certificate (CPWP Flyer).
